(The Contract Series Book 1)
Genre: M/F, Contemporary Romance
A tyrant by day, a playboy by night. That is the reputation that precedes Richard VanRyan. He lives life the way he wants, no concern for the opinion of others. He cares for no one, is completely unrepentant, and he has no desire to change his ways.
Katharine Elliott works under Richard as his PA. She despises him and his questionable ethics, but endures all the garbage he sends her way, because she needs the job. Her end goal is far more important than the daily abuse and demands she tolerates from her nasty tyrant of a boss.
Until the day, he asks her for something she never expected. A new role with a personal contract — fiancée instead of PA.
What happens when two people who loathe each other, have to live together and act as though they are madly in love?
That’s what happens.
Can the power of love really change a person?
Will they survive the contract?
What do you do when the one person you hate the most becomes the one person you can’t live without?
Review: 4.5/5 Stars
This is the first book that I have read that was m/f in a long time, and it did not disappoint. The story is mainly from Richards POV with Katherine’s POV thrown in a few times. Richard got passed up for promotion, and he doesn’t take that too kindly, so he wants to switch jobs, but in order to work for the company he wants to he has to change who he is, and boy does he need to change. Richard and Katherine enter into a contract, and as they say the rest is history.
I will start by saying that I wanted to punch Richard in the face like hard core, punch him. He started the book off being an ass. Granted I get why he was upset, but even after what caused his upset, he was still an ass. I’m not going to lie, I truly wavered between a 3 and a 3.5 star review, but as the story goes on, Richard mellows out which was a redeeming quality to me.
Katherine also know as Katy, was a good match for Richard, even though they started the relationship for both her and Richard’s gain. Although if I was her, Richard would have been cussed out so many times, but she took the high road. More power to her.
Although there relationship started as a farce, they went through the ups and downs as a couple that were in a committed relationship. They had there moments where Richard was sweet and where Richard was totally douche, which after Katy stopped working for him in the office she didn’t take it. She called him on his bs.
I also enjoyed the supporting characters and watching Richard turn into a decent man. This was a great read and I would definitely recommend it.

This was a cute quick read, even though I felt it could have been the epilogue of The Contract, but I get that sometimes the author thinks they are done writing a story, but either the characters or the fans want more.
In this story we see a softer more protective side of Richard and it was endearing. Nice add on to the series.
Even though I know the baby’s name I will play along.
Ne’Vaeh Duchess VanRyan.
(I think it has a nice ring to it lol.)
New York Times/USA Today bestselling author Melanie Moreland, lives a happy and content life in a quiet area of Ontario with her beloved husband of twenty-seven-plus years and their rescue cat Amber. Nothing means more to her than her friends and family, and she cherishes every moment spent with them.
While seriously addicted to coffee, and highly challenged with all things computer-related and technical, she relishes baking, cooking, and trying new recipes for people to sample. She loves to throw dinner parties, and also enjoys travelling, here and abroad, but finds coming home is always the best part of any trip.
Melanie delights in a good romance story with some bumps along the way, but is a true believer in happily ever after. When her head isn’t buried in a book, it is bent over a keyboard, furiously typing away as her characters dictate their creative storylines to her, often with a large glass of wine keeping her company.
