Pretend by Riley Hart

23154941Pretend (Blackcreek #3)

Genre: M/M, Contemporary, Romance

Synopsis:

Mason Alexander thought all he wanted in life was something to call his own—something without the family name attached. He got that when he bought his bar in Blackcreek…but then a hard truth opens his eyes that he’s been lied to his whole life, and he’s tangled amid the family that loves him, a truth that haunts him, and torn between the life he wants for himself and the obligation he feels for his family.

Gavin Davis knows a thing or two about living a double life. Being a gay man with strict Christian parents who believe he’s going to Hell, has never been easy. Instead of dealing, Gavin lost himself in his career. Teaching music gives him solace. So when he loses his job at a private school for helping out a gay kid, he feels like he lost more than a job. He lost his identity.

Blackcreek is a new start for both of them, two men, loyal to a fault, who both feel obligated to people in their lives. What Mason and Gavin don’t expect to find in each other is the place where they can be real. They know they want each other, it’s the rest of it they can’t figure out. Caught between loyalty, obligation, fear, tragedy and family, Mason and Gavin’s lives threaten to pull them away from each other if they don’t get real, and stop playing pretend, for good.

My Review: 4/5 Stars

Mason is torn between doing what he feels is right for himself and helping his family. He’s loyal to a fault and when he finds out the truth about his family he is torn apart and questioning everything.

Gavin recently lost his job by trying to help someone. It was the right thing to do, but the school he worked and the boys parents didn’t see it that way. So he moves back to Blackcreek without putting up a fight. It’s a new beginning for him, one he so desperately needs.

When Mason and Gavin first meet they are up front with their thoughts and it works for them. But will a relationship work with the two that pretend to be someone their not?

Pretend didn’t do it for me like the first two books in the series did. Don’t get me wrong I loved it, but I thought it could use a little bit more oomph. I felt as though Mason took Gavin for granted when Gavin stepped up to help Mason and I gotta see Mason should have seen where Gavin was coming from when it came to Isaac. He had a right to be jealous. Though I liked how they had they found themselves so that they could be good partners to each other.

Hopefully there will be more in this series.

Stay (Blackcreek #2)

Genre: M/M, Contemporary, Romance

Synopsis:

Wes Jensen just lost the sister who raised him, and gained custody of his niece. The last thing he needs to add to his full plate is dealing with Braden Roth, the one-night-stand who continues to try to push his way into Wes’ life. He has a kid to raise now, and Wes isn’t great at getting close anyway.

Braden has never had a woman or a man sneak out on him the morning after. From the start, Wes intrigues him, and Braden isn’t one to deny himself something he wants. And he wants Wes. The more time he spends with Wes and the little girl who constantly keeps them on their toes, the more Braden realizes this isn’t just about getting the guy who walked away.

As their lives intertwine more and more, Wes discovers Braden isn’t as shallow as he thought. But after everything Wes lost in his life, he isn’t sure he can risk his heart, and truly want Braden to stay—and if he did, would Wes’ quiet life be enough for Braden?

My Review: 5/5 Stars

Wes Jensen is struggling with the death of his sister and taking care of his niece.  After his father walked out on his mom and his ex-boyfriend walked away from him, it’s hard for Wes to believe that Braden will stay because he wants him.

Branden is the fun loving guy and Wes doesn’t think he takes things seriously. What Wes soon realizes is that there is more to Branden that meets the eye. He will do anything for the people he loves.

This book is by far my favorite in the whole series and yes I have read Pretend, why wouldn’t I? Branden is the type of person that grows on you. At first he may seem like an arrogant jerk, but he is a fun loving guy and he will tell you like it is. Jessie is to adorable and she will have you wrapped around her little finger. Once you get to know Wes and understand his fears you will be like awe you poor thing. Branden and Wes together are smoking and so cute together. I really hope she writes more in this series. I was thinking about Rick and his comment with the water. One can only dream.

Collide (Blackcreek #1)

Genre: M/M, Contemporary, Romance

Synopsis:

And gay… Or that Cooper himself suddenly wants another man in his bed for the first time.

There’s no denying the attraction and emotion between them, but can they overcome the ghosts of their pasts to have a future together?

This title contains two strong, sexy men, and a passionate friendship that transforms into a sizzling hot romance.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

It all started when they collided when they were 10 and again 17 yrs. later when Cooper hit Noah with his truck. It was as if nothing had separated them and they picked up where they had left off. Except Noah is gay and he wants his very straight best friend.

From a very confused Cooper, who is giving off mixed signals out of this world, how can two best friends become one?

This was the first book that I read from Riley and I am hooked. Cooper, oh Cooper it was a futile point in trying to fight your feelings for Noah. I loved that you put up the fight, but I am also happy that you figured out what you always knew in your heart.

Noah was the strong one in their relationship, he was the one that help Cooper understand what he was feeling and it was bittersweet that he had to accept the fact that Cooper was confused and called it quits after being together for weeks.

I hated Cooper’s uncle. He should have been man enough to own up to his mistakes instead of blaming it on everybody else.

Loves this series!
