Excerpt

Stone’s breathing blew heavy and warm down the back of my neck. His hands found my hair, as he pushed me down on the couch. He kissed my temple, very gently, and then my nose. The corners of my lips turned up to a smile at his sweetness, but only for a second, because his lips pressed against them and his tongue slipped inside. I couldn’t keep my hips from rolling, grinding against him, searching for friction.

“I’ve got you,” he muttered again, so quietly, I almost didn’t hear him.

Surfacing

Genre: M/M, Romance

Synopsis:

Used to luxurious, high-profile city life, Chris’s world is shattered when tragedy takes his husband and young son. Seeking a life free from pain, Chris returns to his grandfather’s cabin on the shores of Wolf Thorn Lake, Maine.

When Chris meets Jake, the earthy young man who resides across the lake, Chris faces his most challenging decision yet. Does he continue his life alone, or does he risk his heart and the potential of love he sees illuminated in Jake’s warm eyes?

A young man running from pain, a rural free spirit with the ability to heal, and a wolf who haunts the shore-line of Wolf Thorn Lake illustrate the endurance of the human heart, the capacity to learn how to love again, and the heart’s ability to restore even the most wounded of men.

Review: 4/5 Stars

Chris is lost, and he is trying to find his way again by moving into the house that his grandfather left for him.

Jake is carefree guy, and when he meets Chris he thinks Chris is out of his reach, but he knows he’s the man for him.

They have a connection, they both know it, but Chris has to find his way out of the pain.

The premises behind the book and Chris’ journey to finding himself keeps you turning the page. I swear I wanted to know why the wolf was so important. Jake’s grandmother was awesome, and she didn’t take any bs from Chris especially when it came to her grandson. Overall, I enjoyed the book and would definitely read more from this author.

A Place to Call Their Own

Genre: M/M, Western, Historical

Synopsis:

Is it possible for two Civil War veterans to find their place in the world on the Kansas prairie?

Frank Greerson and Gregory Young have been discharged from the Army and are headed to their childhood homes. They both defied their parents in 1861 when they joined the Army. After battling southern rebels and preserving the Union of the United States of America, the two men set out to battle the Kansas Prairie and build a life together. Once they find their claim, they encounter common obstacles to life on the Kansas Prairie in 1866: Native Americans, tornadoes, wild animals, and weather.

When a prairie fire destroys their crops and takes their neighbor’s lives, Frank and Gregory are instructed to find their young son’s aunt. Faced with leaving a destroyed claim, the railroad coming through their land, and dwindling funds, Frank and Gregory must decide whether to leave the place they have worked hard to make their own or fulfill their friends’ dying wishes.

Review: 4.5/5 Stars

This is the first book I have read by Dean and maybe the second or third historical m/m book I have read. We have Frank and Gregory, two war veterans, who are looking for a place to call home. In A Place to Call Their Own, Dean takes you through the journey of living a secret relationship, but not. You get the trials and tribulations of basically starting from scratch and making something out of nothing. A couple times, I thought well dang can they just catch a break.

The Frank and Gregory are there for each other no matter what and they know what their end goal is and works towards that. The reason for the missing half star was because I didn’t very much care for the ending, although I seen that Dean is working on another book, but still. Also, it seemed they argued about the same thing over and over again, once they already made a decision.

All in all it’s a good read. You have two men determined to make it on their own, neighbors they can lean on, and Indians that aren’t as bad as everybody makes them out to be. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

After four years of writing and polishing the manuscript, it was accepted and originally published 2013. His second novel, Disappear With Me, set in Edwardian England was published later that same year. Both novels were re-released in May 2015.

Release Day Launch: Irrefutable by Kimberly Bracco

Title: Irrefutable
Series: Apprehensive Duet, Book 2
Author: Kimberly Bracco
Genre: Contemporary Erotic Romance
Release Date:  May 20, 2016
Quinn Taylor had a plan, and it didn’t include Alex Conway.

With Quinn’s decisions no longer her own, her friends questioning her judgment, her life spinning out of control; she’s not sure about anything she once believed in. Alex has found something to believe in – Quinn. He knows what life is like without her and it a life he no longer wants to live.

Just when it seems things can’t get any worse, chaos ensues leaving them both out of time and out of options. Should Alex try for Quinn’s love without a guarantee in sight? Will Quinn be able to marry one man, to save herself, while knowing it will destroy the one man who truly loves her? Their lives are about to be flipped upside down – one way or another. Will they have the strength to work against life’s obstacles and find true happiness together? Can Alex get Quinn to see she’s about to make a huge mistake? Can he show her a side of love that’s irrefutable?

Can I trust him? That’s the biggest question I need to answer before I can say a word about the driving force of this wedding. A wedding that’s supposed to take place in less than eight hours. For two years I thought of Alex as this amazing man, the man who was going to change my world. I let him in—I gave him parts of me I never gave anyone else, and I’m not just talking about sex. Alex got further in than anyone else since my time as an immature teenager, and it ended in a lot of confusion and hurt. My walls are my safety net; I put them there for a reason. No one had ever gotten past them, and I thought that’s how it was always going to be—until Alex.

But Jordan made it in too. I tried to hate him, but it didn’t work. Jordan isn’t my enemy. How can I hurt him? He’s stood by me through everything my dad has done to me. He may not know the full weight of my father’s threats, but he’s still been my rock through it all. When everyone else had something negative to say about what we’re doing, Jordan had my back, to the point of being willing to marry me to save me.

4.5/5 Stars

I’m a big fan of Ms. Bracco. Her characters come to life off the pages, even if I want to slap the hell out of the female leads. We meet Alex and Quinn in the Uninhibited series. Their characters where so great together I was rooting for their book. When I got it in Fallacy, I was like oh shit that’s what I’m talking about.

After reading Irrefutable, I’m still happy they got a story but only because of Alex. I do not like Quinn, at all, and that’s bad because she’s the lead. I wanted to like her and maybe at the end I could tolerate her, but that’s only because of Alex.

Alex is that perfect man, well mine anyways. He supported Quinn even after she tore his heart out and stomped on it. That man still had hope for the woman he loved, but that woman did not deserve him.

Ms. Bracco takes you through a journey with this book, she paints the picture and it comes together fabulously. It’s the journey of finding yourself, for both Quinn and Alex, although I don’t think Alex had far to look. When they came out on top, I was happy for them until the next chapter coming from Alex’s point of view. I swear that chapter broke my heart, then when the next chapter came from Quinn’s point of view, I was giving high fives to Ashley in my head. Because I swear she said what needed to be said.

Irrefutable is an emotional ride, I was happy, sad, angry and pissed off. (Last two mainly at Quinn.) It was a page turning, and if I were reading it as a life story, I would want both Quinn and Alex to come on top, if only for Alex’s sake.

Kimberly is a stay at mom of four crazy beautiful children. She lives in New Jersey with her husband of ten years and enjoys every minute of her never dull life. She loves a good book that is impossible to put down and you will mostly likely find her reading in her downtime, unless of course, there is a football game on.

Spotlight: Thirst: Blood of my Blood by R.P. Channing

Thirst by R P Channing Cover

Thirst: Blood of my Blood

Genre: YA, Paranormal, Romance, High School

Synopsis:

240+ Pages WITH BEAUTIFUL PHOTOGRAPHS

~ Kira Sutherland ~

After a near fatal accident (and getting cheated on by her ‘boyfriend’), and beating up the lead cheerleader (with whom the boyfriend cheated…), and being labeled as having ‘issues’ in her school because she, uhm, sees ghosts, Kira is left with two choices:

  1. Continue her ‘therapy’ (where she’s told the ghost is a hallucination and also gets her legs ogled too often…)

Or

2. Go to Starkfield Academy, a boarding school for “Crazies and Convicts” (as the social media sites call them.)

She chooses the latter…

~ Cory Rand ~

Cory Rand has not had an easy life. His mother died in a car accident when he was twelve, and so did his mother’s best friend…sort of. You see, Janice made a promise to take care of Cory just before she died, and so she lingers. Undead. A ghost that watches out for him.

Brought up in an abusive home, Cory quickly falls into a life of disreputable behavior. After his third offense (which was prompted by a girl, as usual – he has a weakness) he’s left with two choices:

  1. Be tried as an adult and share a cell with a guy named Bubba (he thinks…)

Or

2. Go to Starkfield Academy, which Cory is pretty sure is run by vampires. But, hey, at least he’ll get an education.

He chooses the latter…

It’s at Starkfield that Kira meets Cory Rand, a boy with an insatiable Rage who sees ghosts, too. As well as other things, other things from his past, things that confuse him, things like fire and witches and demons.

Things he’s always ignored.

Until now.

Book Title - Thirst Blood of my Blood

Excerpt:

“Roll down the window, Jack.” Jack was recently dead, so he still had a smell about him. (Which only I could smell…)

I had purposely skipped breakfast. Maybe Jack would help me lose weight. I was (still am) a little wide, although it had never stopped guys flirting with me. I know how to dress.

But I could be skinnier.

Lucy Rogers was skinny. All bones and no boobs.

Charlene Carverton was a babe. Cheerleader. Big chest (which she pushed out generously with a push-up — if only guys knew). Toned thighs. Charlene only dated college boys (back then), which I still think is pretty gross for a girl her age.

He’s not for you,” Jack said out the blue.

“Hmm?”

This…Mike — he’s wrong for you, Miss Kira.” For all Jack’s faults (mainly, being dead), he has a good heart. Factually, probably it’s why I kept him around at first.

“You think I don’t know that?”

Then why don’t you dump him?

I braked at a stop sign. Looked left and right. “Because I’d look like an idiot. I flirted with him and showed interest, and one kiss later I can’t stand the sight of him.”

So dump him.

“It’s not that simple. Kids at school — they can be vicious. I have to let it fade slowly. If I drop the bomb on him, I’ll never hear the end of it through senior year.”

“And you care?”

Yes, I did. Forget Guantanamo, schools are rough. “You don’t understand, Jack. Maybe school was different in your day. But in mine, well, we walk through metal detectors.”

Schools weren’t too different in my day.” I noted the sadness in his voice.

“You okay?”

I’m dead.

Right. “You miss…your life?”

Jack shrugged. “I like being with you, Miss Kira. And I don’t remember much of my life. I think I’m in limbo.

“Limbo?”

Yes, like I have some unfinished business. If only I could remember…what…it is…” He scratched his head.

“Any ideas?”

Well, it can’t be love. If it were love, I’d be a vampire. That’s who teenage girls fall in love with these days.”

“A vampire? That’s just what I need — two undead beings stalking me.”

I feel I have something to do around you, Miss Kira. I don’t know what, but something. Something important.

I looked over at him. “Me?”

I was still looking at him when I missed the stop sign.

The Mack truck drove straight into us.

.99 Pre-Order Sale: Debt by Rachel Dunning

cover

Debt

Publication Date: March 2016

Genre: M/F, New Adult, Sports

Synopsis:

The Debt Collector

I pay my debts, and I expect others to.

I was raised in the slums of London, I knew nothing of privilege. My father was murdered when I was seventeen. Morty figured my father’s passing meant I would automatically take on dad’s debts. I refused.

And I paid for that refusal.

So did my sister.

So now I fight. All I know how to do is fight. The best cash is in the states, so that’s where I am now. A big fish called Vito came along offering me a “favor” when I arrived.

Another debt.

I paid for that one too.

I knew Kyla Hensley would be trouble when I met her. But I wanted her. I could see through the falsehood of her wannabe-slutty clothes and her sexy legs. So I chased her.

Besides, trouble is my middle name.

Kyla Hensley

I was brought up in privilege, but I lacked everything else. My father is a business tycoon who buys and sells and doesn’t care who gets rolled over in the process.

I never knew my mother, and all I have of her is a photo with a note scrawled on the back in French saying “I’m sorry.” The only Female Figure I had growing up is my dad’s wife who is a bleach blond with seven boob jobs. We never bonded.

I drink. I party. I meet guys.

But I wasn’t always like that.

I’ve had a string of lovers in the last few years, the worst and most recent of which was Vince Somerset. My best friend Vera was dating a guy called Rory Cansoom who is the opposite of Vince in so many ways, and yet so the same.

She and I hit the road for the summer, getting away from the two college psychos and just trying to have some fun.

But there’s a funny thing about trouble, the more you run from it, the more it finds you.

Which is when I met the Debt Collector.

It was only supposed to be sex. He made that clear. I made that clear.

That’s all it was supposed to be.

I never expected to fall in love. I never expected to fall so deeply, madly, uncomfortably in love with a man who is wrong, so wrong for me.

And yet…so unbelievably right.

My Review: 4/5 Stars

I’m going to say this first, you really need to read the first two books in this series. If you don’t you will be confused and want to know what the heck happened with Spencer and Jami. (Really bad thing is I bought the first two books and did not realize it until after I finished this book, so I need to do some catching up.)

Spencer and Olivia both have their own addiction and problems, but one thing is clear, they are meant for each other and realize that they need each other to get through their rough patch in life.

The raw emotions with Olivia almost had me in tears, the struggle was real and though I don’t know anyone personal there are people out there who does what Olivia did.  J.C. painted a picture of a troubled woman, but one who knew her short comings and was seeking help for it.

Spencer he was the type that I felt didn’t care. I mean, like I said I didn’t read the first two books, but when he was trying to make it work with Olivia, I saw the change in him. It was great and he too was seeking help for his short comings. Got to love a man who is willing to try and make himself better.

Overall great read though with the epilogue I was with the two women on did I just miss something and I read the entire book. Can’t wait to read more in the series. Well after I catch up on the first two books.
